Inauguration of the Axles 4.0 center in Tergnier, Picardy

Christophe FANICHET, CEO of SNCF Voyageurs, Xavier OUIN, Industrial Director SNCF Voyageurs & Director of Material and Fanch CAPITAINE, Director of the Technicentre Industriel Picardie, in the presence of Antoine de ROCQUIGNY, Director SNCF Immobilier inaugurated the axle center 4.0 on the Tergnier (02) site, on Thursday December 5, 2024. This new workshop, dedicated to axle repair and a true center of technological excellence, replaces the current workshop at the Technicentre Industriel Picardie, which has been in operation since 1973.

Since 2015, SNCF Voyageurs Matériel has been engaged in a profound transformation of its industrial tool, in order to propel its 10 industrial technicenters to the highest level of Industry 4.0 standards. The Technicentre Industriel Picardie, in this momentum, has modernized to respond with agility to the evolving requirements of its markets and better satisfy its customers.

This transformation is structured around two key areas:

1. Modernization of the rolling stock workshop: maintenance of passenger rolling stock (Corail and TER AGC), with an investment of €40m.
2. The creation of the 4.0 axle center: with an investment of €60m, it aims to increase flexibility and productivity thanks to cutting-edge technologies, paving the way for Industry 4.0.

This 4.0 axle center embodies a triple ambition:

Modernize a strategic industrial facility to guarantee its sustainability and competitiveness. The site and its facilities are designed to optimize every aspect of the business, from logistics to handling, with innovative processes that increase productivity and flexibility while lightening the workload.

Increased versatility: in addition to freight and passenger carrying axles, the Technicentre Industriel Picardie will now be able to maintain self-propelled axles for all types of passenger trains.

Reinforcing SNCF Voyageurs' confidence in the site's expertise : the know-how and commitment of the Tergnier teams to meet this industrial challenge.

With a total investment of €100 million in the transformation of the Technicentre Industriel Picardie, including €60 million for the 4.0 axle center, SNCF Voyageurs is reaffirming its ambition to develop rail maintenance. This project is designed to be both efficient and humane, capable of anticipating tomorrow's technological and economic challenges.
