    A benchmark in industrial rail maintenance

    A veritable nerve center for SNCF Voyageurs' Supply Chain, the Moissy-Cramayel logistics platform's mission is to deliver the right part, to the right place, at the right time and at the right price, at the level of quality demanded by our customers. Commissioned in 2006 and with a current surface area of 60,000 m² (post-construction), the platform now incorporates the latest advances in terms of flow optimization, technology, energy and safety. This ambition has been boosted by the mid-life renovation program for the OPTER French TER fleet, which requires large quantities of parts that are both consumable and repairable. And the growth in demand for trains, with record passenger numbers in 2023.

    At Moissy-Cramayel, 12,000 of the 85,000 SKUs will be upgraded from D+5 to D+1 availability.

    Setting up a Supply chain 4.0

    In the context of an increasingly competitive market, and out of a desire to focus our offerings on our customers' demands, the evolution of the logistics platform has been designed around three components:

    1. the modernization of the logistics tool to ensure its sustainability and competitiveness by improving parts lead times and increasing stock and therefore parts availability thanks to a maximized storage area;

    2. the use of new technologies with the implementation of one of the largest AutoStore in France and Europe (automated, scalable and robotized parts storage and retrieval solution) and the adoption of emerging and disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence;

    3. the understanding of our customers' needs thanks to a holistic vision of the value chain.

    SNCF Voyageurs Supply Chain in figures

    • 1.079 MDS€ in sales ;
    • + 1,000 suppliers ;
    • 100,000 m2 of warehousing in France ;
    • 150,000 part numbers under management ;
    • 100 delivery points ;
    • +25% of part numbers referenced in 10 years.

    SNCF Voyageurs, an industrial player

    As an industrial player, we control the lifecycle of our trains, from their everyday maintenance to their complete mid-life renovation. Since 2015, SNCF Voyageurs Matériel has been committed to transforming its industrial tool, in order to propel its 10 industrial technicenters to the highest level of Industry 4.0 standards. By 2025, technologies (additive manufacturing, big data, artificial intelligence, exoskeletons, cobots, autonomous robots, fablabs...) will be deployed in the 10 new-generation Technicentres Industriels, veritable "factories of the future".

    The supply chain is at the heart of our industrial excellence.

    Focus on the Autostore

    The platform's most important modernization is the AutoStore: an automated, scalable and robotized parts storage and retrieval solution. Compact, innovative, flexible and with limited energy requirements, the Autostore boasts 3 major advantages:

    • Optimize the storage of small and medium-sized parts, saving 6,000 m² of storage space.
    • Minimize the error rate: coding and flashing devices enable the operator to check part conformity.
    • Improve safety and ergonomics: cart traffic is minimized thanks to fixed picking stations at the end of the AutoStore line.

    AutoStore in figures

    • 64,000 bins, making it one of the largest in France and Europe;
    • 14 robots;
    • 10 preparation/storage stations;
    • 400 bins/hour for preparation;
    • 75 bins/hour for storage.
