Train + Bike = CO2mbo winner

For several years now, SNCF Voyageurs has been actively promoting the transport of your bicycles on board our trains. Why do we do this? To make it easier for you to use them before and/or after your journeys. This is what we call intermodality.

Several modes of transport for a single trip

At SNCF Voyageurs, we encourage intermodality. And as a major player in low-carbon mobility, we'll always encourage it to be as gentle on the environment as possible. This is not only our goal, but also our mission to further reduce France's CO2 emissions... and therefore yours. That's why we're making it easier for you to use your bike before and after your trips, to avoid using your car, for example. In this way, we support the national objective of tripling the modal share of cycling from 3% to 9% by the end of 2024.

    So, one watchword...

All together in the saddle and on the train!

We remind you that the train is THE long- and medium-distance mode of transport for effectively decarbonizing your travels, and that the bicycle is even more so, even if less obvious to use for a Bordeaux - Paris trip.

To achieve this, we are multiplying:

    • bike spaces on TGV, OUIGO, TER, Transilien trains: from free to almost free (up to €10)
    • parking spaces around mainline or regional stations set up with Gares & Connexions Objective: 90,000 spaces deployed by 2030 (34,457 today)

    How to travel by bike

    • TGV INOUI or INTERCITÉS: non-disassembled bike (€10), free for a folded or disassembled bike put under cover (130X90cm)
    • TER: non-disassembled bike in an accessible bike area (free, without reservation), outside rush hours
    • Transilien: bike not dismantled in an accessible bike area (free, without reservation), outside rush hours
    • OUIGO : bike folded or dismantled under cover (130X90cm) by subscribing to the "bike" option (5€)
    upon reservation.

More and more people are cycling:

    • Bicycle repair workshops are organized around stations in the Île-de-France region with social integration associations, whether or not you take the train (28 Transilien stations).
    • Our employees are encouraged to use it as part of the Plan de Mobilité Employeurs. The FUB (Fédération Française des Usagers de la Bicyclette, which recognizes sites that encourage the use of bicycles for home-work journeys) has recently accredited several of our sites.

    Reminder

    10km is *

    in 🚴🏻‍♀️ (bike) = 0 kg CO2e

    in 🚗 (car) = 2.18 kg CO2e

    More figures

In bulk, not like bikes on board:

    • 48% of INOUI TGVs are capable of carrying 2 to 4 bicycles by 2024 (37% in 2021)
    • 67000 bicycle spaces have been sold on TGVs in 2022 (i.e. +34% compared to 2021), and 54,000 on INTERCITÉS (i.e. +28% compared with 2021)
    • 95% of TER trains have 6 bicycle spaces per train on average
    • 10,000 parking spaces accessible to cyclists in the Paris region
    • Secure parking solutions or the provision of bicycles with SNCF Connect
    • 85,500 bicycle spaces have been sold on TGV INOUI (+27%).
