Implementation of systematic reservation in Normandie

The Normandie Region was the first to introduce free systematic reservation on July 1^rst, 2022, before the Grand-Est Region followed suit in summer 2024 for its two lines to Paris. Here's a look back.

Focused on Krono+ and Krono trains to and from Paris, systematic booking satisfies strong passenger demand and helps to better manage train occupancy rates. Indeed, the NOMAD regional train network is used as much for everyday journeys as for occasional leisure escapades. The introduction of systematic reservations offers a triple benefit: guaranteed seating, choice of seat type and personalized recontact for travel-related information.

Systematic booking does not, however, lead to an overall price increase. In fact, modulating fares according to occupancy rates promotes access to preferential fares for passengers, and allows us to understand journey capacity.
