Terms and conditions of Junior & Cie service

These Terms and Conditions are specific to the Junior & Cie (Mars 2024) service.

The Customer can purchase the Junior & Cie service:

    • by Internet on the websites of SNCF Voyageurs approved agencies
    • https://juniorcie.sncf-connect.com/
    • by telephone at 36 35 (free service + price of a call, excluding any operator surcharges, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm).

The Customer can book the Junior & Cie service no earlier than 3 months and no later than 4 days before the date of travel.

The booking of the Junior & Cie service includes the simultaneous purchase of the ticket for the chosen dates and journeys and the accompanying package.

As part of the Junior & Cie service, it is only possible to book a direct journey, no connections are provided. If the customer books 2 consecutive journeys, the Junior & Cie service will not provide transport to the station and cannot be held responsible in the event of a missed connection, particularly in the event of a delay in the first train that would not allow the child to board the next train.

The Junior & Cie service is only available for direct journeys.

The Junior & Cie service is available in the form of a Junior & Cie e-ticket including the child's travel pass and the Junior & Cie companion package.

2.1. Characteristics of the Junior & Cie e-ticket

The Junior & Cie e-ticket is nominative, individual and non-transferable.

As the Junior & Cie e-ticket is a dematerialized ticket, it is not subject to compulsory stamping before boarding the train. It is only valid for the designated train, date, class and route.

It is exchangeable and/or refundable according to the exchange and refund conditions in these General Conditions.

In the event of non-compliance with any of the rules specified above, the Junior & Cie e-ticket is considered invalid.

When the amount of an e-ticket exceeds the sum of 1,500 Euros, the Traveler or the person making the purchase of the e-ticket expressly waives the provisions of article 1341 of the Civil Code and, in particular, that the contract be a deed concluded before a notary or under private seal.

The purchase of an e-ticket also entails a waiver by the Traveler or the person purchasing the e-ticket of the provisions of article 1325 of the Civil Code. One consequence of such a waiver is that, when an e-ticket is sold, the only original of the contract is in the SNCF Voyageurs computer system.

The e-ticket stored in the SNCF Voyageurs computer system, as well as all related data, are therefore proof, until proven otherwise, of the conclusion, content and execution of the contract. They therefore constitute evidence that is admissible, valid and enforceable against the Passenger under the same conditions and with the same probative force as any document that would be drawn up, received or kept on paper.

The integrity and reliability of the information contained in the SNCF Voyageurs computer system is obtained by the implementation of numerous technical means such as secure access to said computer system, identification or authentication, traceability of any modification made to the transport ticket stored in the computer system and the implementation of technical security devices.

2.2. Purchase of the Junior & Cie e-ticket

The purchase of the e-ticket as part of the Junior & Cie service can be made through different channels:

The Customer must create a customer account in order to purchase the Junior & Cie service. They must enter their contact details and those of the person(s) responsible for the child on arrival, as well as information about the child (first name, surname, gender, date of birth, any special needs). If the customer has a Carte Avantage Jeune, Adulte, Senior or a Carte Liberté, and wishes to benefit from the associated discount, they must also enter their card number.

This information is then pre-filled during the purchase process once the journey search has been completed. This is valid for all future bookings of the Junior & Cie service.

It is the Customer's responsibility to ensure that the information entered in the customer account is up to date before any booking of the Junior & Cie service.

The Customer must make payment by credit card.

    • By telephone on 3635 (free service + price of a call, excluding any operator surcharges, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm).

If the customer has not already created a customer account on the website before calling the Junior & Cie Center, the teleconsultant will then need to fill in the customer's contact details and those of the person(s) responsible for the child on arrival, as well as the child's details (first name, surname, gender, date of birth, need for specific attention if applicable) before proceeding with the service booking. If the customer has an Avantage Jeune, Adulte, Senior or Carte Liberté card, and wishes to benefit from the associated discount, the call center agent must also enter the card number. This is valid for all future bookings of the Junior & Cie service as long as the Customer has not created an account.

If the customer has an account, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the information entered in the customer account is up to date before any Junior & Cie reservations are made. In the event of a change, he/she must notify the customer service representative as soon as the telephone call begins.

The customer must make payment by credit card.

Whichever purchasing channel is chosen, the purchase is followed by the dispatch to the customer of an order confirmation to the email address given when the service was purchased. The e-mail contains as an attachment, in PDF format, the e-ticket completed using the information provided by the Customer at the time of purchase.

This e-ticket will also be transmitted by e-mail to the person(s) responsible for picking up the child on arrival.

If the Customer has downloaded the Junior & Cie customer application, available and downloadable free of charge on the IOS and Android stores, he or she will also be able to consult his or her e-ticket there up to the time of the train's departure.

The Customer purchasing a ticket must ensure at the time of ordering that it has been drawn up according to his or her indications, in particular the date and time, the origin and destination of the journey and the passenger's first and last names.

If the Customer wishes to delete his/her customer account, he/she may make a request by telephone to 36 35 (toll-free call, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm).

2.3. Checking the e-ticket as part of the Junior & Cie service

In order for the child to access the train, the person dropping off the child must be able to show the Junior & Cie e-ticket to the animator or an SNCF Voyageurs agent, on the day of departure, at the Junior & Cie check-in point in the station. This document is mandatory for travel.

If not, the child will not be authorized to travel and will not be accepted on board the train. If despite this prohibition the child should be put on the train, the Junior & Cie service will not take charge of the child within the group and discharges itself of all responsibility towards the child.

The e-ticket can at the Customer's choice be presented in the following ways:

    Presentation of the printed e-ticket

The person dropping off the child may present the printed e-ticket.

The Customer may print (or reprint) his Junior & Cie e-ticket by visiting the Junior & Cie booking site via his customer account or confirmation email (document attached in PDF format) and this until the day of train departure.

The printing of the e-ticket must comply with the conditions of this article. To be valid, the e-ticket must be printed on blank, white A4 paper, without modification of the print size, in landscape format with a laser or inkjet printer with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

In the event of an incident or poor print quality of the Junior & Cie e-ticket, the Customer must print it again.

As a result, before ordering a Junior & Cie e-ticket, Customers wishing to print it must ensure that they have the software and hardware configuration required for this, namely a computer connected to the Internet and equipped with Acrobat Reader software as well as a laser or inkjet printer with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

Customers must test, prior to ordering their Junior & Cie e-ticket, that the printer used allows it to be printed correctly. SNCF Voyageurs declines all responsibility in the event that the Customer is unable to print his/her Junior & Cie e-ticket due to non-compliance with the above provisions.

Presentation of the e-ticket on smartphone

The person dropping off the child may present the Junior & Cie e-ticket on smartphone:

    • or by presenting the e-ticket communicated as an attachment to the order confirmation e-mail.
    • or by presenting the e-ticket downloaded via the Junior & Cie customer application.

2.4. Exchange and refund of the Junior & Cie e-ticket

The Junior & Cie e-ticket is exchangeable and refundable without deduction up to 16 days before train departure. Between 15 days and 4 days inclusive before departure, a charge of 10 euros per child and per journey will be applied. It is neither exchangeable nor refundable after this period.

Customers can exchange or cancel their e-ticket by calling 36 35 (toll-free, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm) or via their customer account on the Junior & Cie website.

The Customer guarantees that he/she is of legal age and capable. He/she is responsible for the information he/she communicates when booking the Junior & Cie service. Furthermore, he/she guarantees to have parental authority over the child benefiting from the Junior & Cie service. Otherwise, he/she undertakes to obtain the necessary authorizations from the persons having authority over the child benefiting from the Junior & Cie service.

The Junior & Cie service, once booked, implies the impossibility of modifying the name of the child benefiting from the service, notably for safety reasons. Only children aged 4 to 14 inclusive can benefit from this escort service. This service is available during school vacations and weekends on the routes described in the commercial documentation relating to the service.

The Customer guarantees that the children for whom he/she wishes to subscribe to the Junior & Cie service do not require any special care or medical assistance during the trip. As such, only children who are self-sufficient in toilets are taken care of, as the Junior & Cie service leaders are not responsible for changing children.

The Junior & Co. service is accessible to children with special needs (wheelchairs, etc.) as long as the customer has indicated the type of attention required by the child(ren) at the time of purchase, and the Junior & Co. Centre has been able to ensure that the child(ren) will receive appropriate care. If this is not the case, the Centre Junior & Cie will inform the Customer as soon as possible.

More generally, the Customer undertakes to inform SNCF Voyageurs of any information of a medical nature or of any order likely to influence the safety or travelling conditions of the children.

It is also the Customer's responsibility to ensure prior to the journey that the person designated at the time of booking to collect the child is indeed the person who will present himself at the arrival station. In the event of a change, the customer must go to his customer account before D-4 to modify the person(s) indicated. Between D-3 and the train's theoretical departure time, the Customer no longer has the option of modifying this information, but can instead add a person in charge of picking up the additional child.

On the day of departure, any child who does not have all the obligatory documents according to the situation, and who has not been physically registered with the Junior & Cie department, will not be authorized to travel and will not be accepted on board the train. If despite this prohibition the child should be put on the train, the Junior & Cie service will not take charge of the child within the group and discharges itself of all responsibility towards the child.

Mandatory documents to be presented are:

    • The Junior & Cie e-ticket: presentation of the printed e-ticket or presentation of the e-ticket on smartphone (either presentation of the e-ticket communicated as an attachment to the order confirmation e-mail, or presentation of the e-ticket downloaded via the Junior & Cie customer application).
    • If applicable: the Carte Famille Nombreuse, the Carte Avantage Jeune, Adulte, Senior, or the Carte Liberté (if beneficiary of the associated discount).

Children benefiting from the Junior & Cie service and traveling outside France must be in possession of the documents required by current legislation and regulations to ensure their identification and movement.

If your child habitually resides in France (regardless of nationality):

    • Exit authorization: completed and signed form available by clicking here
    • A copy of the signatory's ID
    • The child's ID

If your child usually resides in Switzerland (regardless of nationality):

    • A signed parental authorization
    • The child's ID

Depending on the situation, it is the Customer's responsibility to:

    • Check that the child has all the documents required for travel.
    • Ensure that the person dropping off the child at the departure station has the e-ticket to present at the check-in point and pass through any boarding gates.
    • Notify the person responsible for picking up the child on arrival that their e-mail address will be transmitted to Junior & Cie, and therefore ensure that this person has given their consent for their data to be processed as part of the Junior & Cie service.
    • Notify the person in charge of picking up the child upon arrival of the dates and times they must be present to pick up the child, as well as the obligation to present themselves with official photo identification (national identity card, residence permit, passport or driver's license).
    • Ensure that the person designated to collect the child at the time of booking has the e-ticket on arrival to pass through any boarding gates and collect the child from the platform at the foot of the car.
    • Ensure that the person designated to collect the child at the time of booking is of legal age and will be there to collect the child.
    • In addition to his or her telephone number, which must be reachable, the telephone number of the person(s) responsible for picking up the child must also be reachable, so that Junior & Cie can inform him or her of any event that may occur during the trip.
    • To ensure that the child has only one piece of luggage weighing less than 10 kg and one additional small piece of hand luggage (such as a backpack), provided that the child is capable of carrying them alone. Otherwise, the luggage may be refused or must be lightened before departure. Any other type of bulky item (sports equipment, scooter, etc.) will also be refused. Musical instruments are accepted on board provided they fit entirely in the child's backpack or suitcase.
    • Please ensure that baggage does not contain dangerous or valuable items (digital tablet, cell phone, jewelry, etc.). SNCF Voyageurs disclaims all liability in the event of theft or loss of these items.
    • To ensure that the child does not carry animals.
    • To ensure that the child has a snack and a bottle of water for his or her journey.

The child(ren) and the person(s) responsible for the departure must be present at check-in 30 minutes or 1 hour before the departure of the train at the Junior & Cie physical check-in point. The meeting time is indicated on the e-ticket.

The child's check-in at the Junior & Cie point is compulsory. This procedure is essential in order to:

    • Check that the child is present on the list of children found on the application of the SNCF Voyageurs animator or agent
    • Check the mandatory documents.
    • Check that the luggage does not weigh more than 10 kg and that it is labeled.
    • Check that there is a snack and bottle of water in the child's bag.
    • Return the Junior & Cie cap to the child.
    • Return the identification bracelet to the child with the information filled in by hand by the animator or SNCF Voyageurs agent (child's first and last name, arrival station, train no.). This bracelet is placed on the child's wrist by the person dropping off the child.

The person accompanying the child to the departure station must stay and look after the child until the train departs. If the train is cancelled, Junior & Cie may have to entrust the child to the person in charge until a new departure. This person is responsible for the child until the train departs, at which point the Junior & Cie service takes charge of the child. The person responsible for the child must accompany the child to the train. In stations equipped with boarding gates, only one guardian will be allowed to pass through them with the child.

The child will be entrusted at the arrival station exclusively to the person or persons identified by the Customer at the time of reservation and identified on the list of children found on the application of the SNCF Voyageurs animator or agent, after verification and photo-taking of an official ID and against electronic signature of this list. At the time of identity verification, the document presented by the person picking up the child may be kept until the child is actually handed over and the electronic sign-off of the list of children attesting to the handover.

The person collecting the child must also have arrived at the meeting point indicated on the e-ticket 15 minutes before the train's arrival time at the station

In stations equipped with boarding gates, only one of the persons designated by the Customer at the time of booking may pass through the gates to collect the child from the Junior & Cie car.

All these conditions must be respected by the Customer. Failing this, the child will not be taken in charge by the Junior & Cie service, without this giving rise to reimbursement by SNCF Voyageurs of the service and/or any expenses whatsoever.

    4.1. Fares applicable to tickets

The fares for the child's ticket available on the Junior & Cie service are:
