    Wheelchair access conditions

In accordance with European TSI PMR regulations (Technical Specifications for Interoperability for People with Reduced Mobility), the maximum authorized dimensions of a manual or electric wheelchair are 70 cm wide, 120 cm deep and 145 cm high (including the passenger), with a turning circle of 150 cm.

In the case of a manual wheelchair, the weight of the wheelchair, its occupant and their baggage must not exceed 200 kg. This weight is increased to 300 kg in the case of an electric wheelchair requiring no assistance to clear a boarding aid.

Whichever train you travel on, we recommend that you block the wheels of your wheelchair for the duration of the journey.

Priority seating and guide/assistance dog seating

These seats are available on TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS trains with compulsory reservation.

Easy access seats" or "priority seats

When you buy your ticket, you can select "easy access" or "priority" seats in 1st or 2nd class under "seating preferences". These seats are intended primarily for people with disabilities or reduced mobility who are looking for seating comfort adapted to their specific needs.

Easy-access" or "priority" seats are more likely to be located close to the purser's service car, exits, toilets or on-board information screens.

    Guide dog/assistance seats

When you purchase your tickets, you can select 1st or 2nd class "guide/assistance dog" seats in the "seating preferences" section. These seats are intended primarily for :

    • any disabled person accompanied by a guide or assistance dog;
    • any customer traveling with a guide dog in training (dog trainer or foster family).

The guide/assistance dog spaces allow you to travel more serenely with your faithful companion. They are located in places defined in collaboration with specialized associations/partners to ensure greater comfort for travelers with guide or assistance dogs (e.g. "back-to-back" seats that allow the dog to be placed in the space between the two seats, or seats at the back of the lounge, out of the way of passenger traffic).

These seats are subject to availability. If they are not available at the time of reservation, the purser can help you find a more suitable seat.

Please note that "easy access" or "priority" seats and "guide/assistance dog" seats are not the same as wheelchair spaces.

    On board the TER

With the new generations of TER (Regiolis and Regio2N), you'll benefit from improved accessibility for all types of disability, as well as independent toilet facilities.

However, some older TERs cannot guarantee the same level of service. Check that the train or coach you're taking is wheelchair accessible by contacting one of the TER regional Customer Relations Centers.

On board Transilien trains in Île-de-France

With the new generations of trains in Île-de-France (the Francilien on the RER E and H, J, K, L and P lines), you can enjoy fully independent travel, whatever your disability.

However, some higher-capacity, double-decker RER trains require assistance to board.

    On board night trains

If you wish to travel at night, remember to specify when booking that you have reduced mobility and require a lower berth, in a compartment close to sanitary facilities and access.

To date, night trains do not offer a good level of accessibility and are not recommended for wheelchair users.

With your guide or assistance dog

In couchettes, you can travel with your guide or assistance dog with the agreement of the other passengers.

If your compartment neighbors refuse to allow your service animal, please contact the on-board staff, who will try to find a satisfactory solution wherever possible.
