    Rail travel with your baby: Everything you need to know in 7 questions

    Pushchair, changing bag, luggage, baby carrier, folding baby bed, security blanket, backup security blanket... and that’s just for starters. Going on holiday with an infant can be a logistical nightmare.

    SNCF can help. To make the journey easier for you (and your baby), here are some answers to your most frequently asked questions—all in one place.

    With OUIGO, children’s fares start at just €5

    When you travel with OUIGO, choose from two simple options for all children under 12, including infants:

    • 8€ for OUIGO Grande Vitesse
    • 5€ for OUIGO Train Classique

    No, it's not compulsory. With TGV INOUI, TER and INTERCITÉS, your child under 41 travels free of charge on your lap or in his or her baby carrier, without seat reservation.

    However, if you'd like your baby to have its own seat - to fit a carrycot, for example - opt for the €9 Toddler Package. This reduced rate is offered to you by default when you make your reservation;

    Access our nursery areas and give your child a clean, dry journey. Easily identifiable on board TGV INOUI, INTERCITÉS and OUIGO trains thanks to their acronym, they are equipped with a changing table for quietly changing your baby;

    To heat your child's bottle, potty or meal, please contact our catering staff, who will be happy to satisfy your request at the Bar.

    Stroller transport is free (up to 2 strollers per OUIGO journey). You can store your stroller in the luggage area;

    In exceptional cases, the stroller may be stored folded between 2 carriages, provided that it does not block access to the train doors and the safe movement of passengers.

    During an INTERCITÉS night journey, your child can travel free of charge in the same couchette as you. If you'd like a berth for your baby, buy a Forfait Bambin Nuit ticket, specifying the berth next to your already reserved seats.

    With TGV INOUI, take the stress out of travelling with your family in an area reserved primarily for families: the Espace Famille2. It can be booked in 2de class on all TGV INOUI trains on weekends, school vacations and public holidays.

    Travel in the company of other families to make your trip a time of fun and memories for your children.

    For trips with toddlers, a nursery corner is located close to the space.

    If you're travelling on an INTERCITÉS train on the Paris-Limoges-Toulouse line, you can visit the Espace Kid, located in the Services car (car 3 or 13 depending on the layout of the train);

    A play mat, cushions... everything to keep your children entertained during the journey. Our fixed seats, specially adapted for passengers aged 1 to 4, guarantee their safety. Also available in the Espace Kid:

    • changing tables
    • sockets for bottle warmers
    • stroller luggage

    1 To document your child’s age, you must present your child's identity document. For travel to European destinations outside France, all children under four must have their own identity documents.

    2 Espace Familles coaches are available every weekend aboard many TGV INOUI trains serving select destinations on our Atlantic and South-East lines.
